On June 24, 2006, Premier Wen Jiabao of the State Council of China left the Entebbe International Airport for home by special plane after winding up his official visit to Uganda with a great success.

Ugandan Prime Minister Apolo Nsibambi went to the airport to see him off and hosted a grand farewell ceremony.

Chinese Ambassador to Uganda Fan Guijin, the staff of the Chinese Embassy and representatives from Chinese-funded institutions, Chinese students and overseas Chinese saw Wen off at the airport as well.

During his visit, Wen held talks with President Yoweri Museveni and Prime Minister Nsibambi, exchanging views with them on upgrading bilateral cooperation. He also attended a get-together celebrating the friendship between the two peoples and visited a HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment center in Uganda. Both sides signed a number of cooperation documents in the areas of economy, trade, agriculture, education and health.

Uganda is the last leg of Premier Wen's seven-nation African tour, which already took him to Egypt, Ghana, the Republic of Congo, Angola, South Africa and Tanzania.
