According to the current global pandemic situation, in order to further meet the needs of necessary international personnel exchanges, the following adjustments are made for Chinese Visa Application:
1. Application materials and types of visas accepted
(1) Basic materials
The following documents are required in applying all categories of visas:
①Certificate of COVID-19 Vaccination. Before entering China, foreigners should be fully inoculated with COVID-19 vaccine(s) approved by China/World Health Organization for emergency use/market.
②Passport. Original passport should be with at least six(6) months of remaining validity, two or more blank visa pages, and a photocopy of information page.
③Signed visa application form and confirmation page. Log in to https://cova.cs.mfa.gov.cn to fill in the Visa Application Form online. After confirming that it is correct, print and sign the above form and confirmation page.
④Photos. A recently-taken, front, bareheaded, colour passport photo (48mm×33mm) against a light background must be submitted.
⑤Proof of legal stay or residence status (applicable to non-Ugandan applicants)
(2) Visa Categories currently accepted and additional required documents.

S1-Visa (long-term)

Family members refer to: spouse, parent, child under the age of 18, parent-in-law, adult child, spouse of adult child, and unmarried partner. | ①Proof of kinship between the applicant and inviter (such as proof of marriage, marriage certificate, birth certificate.) ;
②An invitation letter from a foreign national who stays or resides in China holding a Z/F/M visa or related residence permit;
③The inviter's passport and residence permit;
*Adult child, spouse of adult child, and unmarried partner applying for family member visit (S2) visa shall submit explanation documents accordingly as required by consular officials in addition to the documents mentioned above.
*S1 visa is only applicable to a family member of Z visa/residence permit holder. |
Q1 visa (long-term reunion)
Q2 visa (short-term family visit) | ①Foreign family member of a Chinese citizen.
②Family member of a foreign national with Chinese permanent residence permit.
*Family members refer to: spouse, parent, parent-in-law, child, spouse of child, brother or sister, grandparent, grandchild. | ①Proof of family member kinship between the applicant and inviter (marriage certificate, birth certificate, certification of kinship issued by public security bureaus or notarised certification of kinship, etc.);
②An invitation letter from a Chinese citizen or a foreign citizen holding a Chinese permanent residence permit residing in China;
③Proof of Chinese identity from the inviter (such as Chinese identity card, Chinese household registration), or foreign passport and Chinese permanent residence permit. |
C visa | Crew members. | A letter of guarantee issued by a foreign transport company or an invitation letter issued by a relevant entity in China. |
Note:
(1) To apply for the emergency humanitarian visa for the purpose of arranging funeral matters or visiting a family member in critical medical conditions in China, applicants shall submit the identity document of the deceased or critically ill patient (such as a Chinese identity card or a foreign passport), a death certificate or a medical certificate of the patient issued by the hospital, proof of kinship, and other necessary documents as required.
(2) Visa applications for tourism, medical treatment and other personal purposes are not accepted at the moment.
2. Application process
(1) Log in to https://cova.cs.mfa.gov.cn to fill in the Visa Application Form online, print and sign the above form and confirmation page.
(2) Sent the above-mentioned materials to consulate_uga@163.com.
(3) Submit the application materials(hard copy) and apply for a visa at the Embassy, according to the time indicated in the email response.
3. Timeline for visa process
Physical Visa Application: 9:00-11:00 every Friday
Processing time: Five (5) working days. (Please note that this may vary due to unforeseen factors.)
4. This Notice on Updated Requirements for Chinese Visa Application comes into effect on the date as it publicizes.
